What is XCalendar?

XCalendar is a macOS menu bar calendar for checking the date, time, lunar calendar, and upcoming events without leaving your work. It can also remind you before an event begins.

Which macOS versions are supported?

XCalendar supports macOS 14.0 or later.

Does XCalendar upload my calendars or events?

No. XCalendar reads calendars and events only after you allow access, and only on your Mac. It requires no account, does not upload your calendar content, and does not track how you use the app.

Can I use it without calendar access?

Yes. The basic month calendar, date, weekday, lunar date, and time display remain available. System event markers, event details, and holiday content sourced from system calendars will be unavailable.

How do notifications work?

Notifications are off by default. When enabled, XCalendar asks for notification permission and reminds you on your Mac using your chosen lead time. Reminders cover events from every calendar you allow XCalendar to access, even if some calendars are hidden from the month panel.

Can I customize the menu bar text?

Yes. You can combine date, weekday, lunar date, time, and a custom format. You can also configure week start, appearance, lunar display, panel animation, hover opening, and launch at login.
